Urban doctor Alice Bennett had a happy marriage with Ethan Carter until his mother Agnes Carter arrived. During labor, Agnes forbade Ethan from signing the C-section consent form. Her backward parenting later caused the baby to fall gravely ill. Fed up with Ethan's inaction and blind loyalty to his mother, Alice decides to seek a divorce, take her child, and focus on her career.
