On Christmas Eve, transplant center director Reid Carter steals the kidney meant to save his dying wife, Sloane, and gives it to his mistress’s mother. The mistress even calls to thank Sloane for voluntarily giving it up. When Sloane threatens to expose him, Reid hits her, abandons her during a medical crisis, and tells her she can keep waiting. Then Sloane learns the kidney came from her own dead mother. She gives their marriage nine days. After that, Reid will receive either divorce papers or news of her death.
