Beast King Elden bears a lethal lightning curse—any living thing he touches burns to cinders. Human girl Vera is the only one who can endure his touch. To break the curse, he forces her into marriage by holding her mother hostage.
Vera resents him, but glimpses his sincere heart: he heals her, shields her, and crumbles when she prays for him barefoot through brambles. The curse can be broken by consummation—but Vera would die from the backlash. Elden makes an antidote, but the villainess Lia swaps it for poison.
