Part 1: Retaliation of the Mother-in-Law Cast Introduction

Malina Darwin

Malina Darwin of Retaliation of the Mother-in-Law vertical drama used to be Cathy Smith. Her parents likely possessed innate musical talents. That way, they hired a musical tutor named Tess Walter.

Malina a.k.a. Cathy also had a younger brother, whose name is Louis. Most likely, they have spent many hours training under the competent Ms. Walter.

Unfortunately, the kind-hearted musical tutor image has faded for a long time. After all, Tess’ cruelty didn’t stop at seducing Cathy’s father. This wicked woman also deliberately caused Louis’ and the father’s death.

At first, Malina doesn’t want Tess to realize she is Cathy. She applies as Tess’ maid and answers the interview questions as they should be. She even serves her boss her favorite congee and tidies Tess’ jewelry. This seemingly innocent maid even pours a glass of wine on Tess’ birthday.

More episodes will present Malina’s deliberate actions in retaliating against the mistress! We believe Malina will thrive. After all, Jason Hart, her love interest, is ready to back her up!

Jason Hart

!["Retaliation]("https://www.reelshort.com/fandom/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/retaliation-of-the-mother-in-law-cast-jason.jpg")

Jason Hart’s role in Retaliation of the Mother-in-Law vertical drama is the love interest. His debut appearance might have not successfully convinced audiences of his age. Jason is around Tess’ age. Still, his wealth lets him access premium beauty services that make him look much younger.

Tess and her other friends are aware that Jason comes from a wealthy background. He has likely inherited his family company’s business. Nonetheless, Jason chooses the academic path. His debut appearance includes the mentions of him being the philosophy professor.

We can sense typical stoic and committed professor demeanors for this character since his early appearances. He might have been married to Tess. Yet, we can say that he falls in love with Malina at first sight.

Malina’s burning vengeance lets the newly appointed maid use Jason’s feelings to her advantage. At first, Jason tries his best to remain faithful to his wife. Meanwhile, he keeps his relationship with Malina on a professional level.

Yet, discovering the wife’s infidelity and mistreatment towards Malina become his turning points. We are not surprised if Jason would fall in love with Malina instead!

Tess Walter

!["Retaliation]("https://www.reelshort.com/fandom/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/retaliation-of-the-mother-in-law-cast-tess.jpg")

Retaliation of the Mother-in-Law Chinese drama has a vindictive mistress figure. The aristocratic, pretty-looking, and sociable Tess Walter fills the role. Tess loves to wear dresses that flaunt her irresistible curves. That way, she can undertake any identities to seduce men.

Cathy a.k.a. Malina’s father was the first individual Tess seduced. At that time, Tess also lured Cathy and Louis to accept her as their musical tutor. She also caused friction in Cathy and Louis’ parents’ romantic relationships.

The movie’s episodes hint that Tess could access Cathy’s mother’s diamond necklace and stole it through this man. This wicked woman finally claimed the necklace as her own after Cathy’s mother’s death.

Tess is married to Jason 20 years after Tess thought she had successfully gotten rid of the noisy kids. Yet, the marriage doesn’t lead to the mistress’ redemption. After all, she uses Jason’s money and reputation to advance herself!

She also continues her flirting attempts despite her married status. Her small mind doesn’t realize that Malina has taken advantage of her surveillance camera!

Mr. Tuner

!["Retaliation]("https://www.reelshort.com/fandom/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/retaliation-of-the-mother-in-law-cast-mr-turner.jpg")

Mr. Tuner might be a minor figure in Retaliation of the Mother-in-Law Chinese drama’s universe. However, it doesn’t mean the movie doesn’t describe his identity clearly. Mr. Tuner mainly appears at Tess’ party, because the place helps position his image as a party animal.

As the maid in Tess’ manor, Malina is aware that this flirtatious man smokes a lot. So, she places some cigarettes in front of the balcony’s entrance. This way, Malina can free herself from Tess’ accusation of wanting to steal the boss’ husband through the balcony’s entrance.

Mr. Tuner has also been married to Tess’ best friend. However, we can say from his seducing ways that this grey-haired man is a womanizer.

Mr. Tuner’s use of the opportunities to deliver Tess’ blanket leads to Tess’ destruction. Her best friend no longer believes her, and her husband issues a divorce. That way, we can safely say Mr. Tuner is the plot driver!

!["Retaliation]("https://www.reelshort.com/fandom/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/retaliation-of-the-mother-in-law-chinese-drama-plot.jpg")

Retaliation of the Mother-in-Law is a movie with many characters possessing musical backgrounds. Cathy Smith a.k.a. Malina Darwin, the lead female, isn’t the only person with a musical training background.

Tess Walter used to be Malina’s tutor in her childhood. Back then, she was known as Cathy Smith. The diamond necklace should be Cathy’s mother’s dowry. Cathy’s mother should be the singer of her father’s piano performances.

Unfortunately, Tess shows her true colors too early. Telling the innocent kids that their parents will break up soon is not enough for this so-called tutor. More flashbacks in Retaliation of the Mother-in-Law vertical drama also prove Tess’ coercion of Cathy.

Tess caused Cathy’s father and younger brother’s death before the story began. Yet, Cathy refused to back off. 20 years later, Cathy knows the mansion mistress needs a maid. So, she applies as Malina Darwin.

Hence, we acknowledge Malina Darwin as the lead female character’s new identity. Malina is ready to expose more layers of Tess’ cruelty. Also, becoming Tess’ maid and seducing Tess’ husband only serve as Malina’s deliberate openings!

Malina knows she has to be smart to avoid early misunderstandings. Little by little, Malina uses her knowledge about the mansion to create traps against her cruel boss!

Meanwhile, Malina’s relationship with Jason Hart also blossoms. After Jason’s acts in divorcing Tess, will he cling to Malina? We hope so!

Part 3: What Will Happen at Retaliation of the Mother-in-Law Drama’s Ending?

!["Retaliation]("https://www.reelshort.com/fandom/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/retaliation-of-the-mother-in-law-chinese-drama-ending.jpg")

A HEA ending is what we expect in Retaliation of the Mother-in-Law Chinese drama. It could involve Jason Hart’s marriage to Malina. If it happened, Malina would now become the reigning Mrs. Hart.

We will know no mistress figures like Tess Walter anymore! After all, the authorities should arrive on time to punish Tess before we can see the ending. The punishment scenes should also follow with more exposures behind Cathy’s a.k.a. Malina’s father’s death.

More supporting figures should appear in the second half of the movie. The figures should either be on the protagonists’ or the villains’ sides. Anyway, we expect Mr. Tuner to turn into Tess’ partner-in-crime. Meanwhile, his ex-wife will side with Malina, the intelligent maid.

If those exposures happened, we might no longer recognize the main female character as Malina. Instead, she could regain her identity as Cathy Smith. Hence, it is a double happiness for Jason. He gets Malina and Cathy at the same time in the same person’s physique!

Part 4: Where to Watch Retaliation of the Mother-in-Law Drama?

!["Retaliation]("https://www.reelshort.com/fandom/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/retaliation-of-the-mother-in-law-chinese-drama-where-to-watch.jpg")

Retaliation of the Mother-in-Law drama doesn’t only present musical backstories for all characters. Instead, they also highlight Malina’s intellect in uncovering Tess Walter’s lies.

Slowly but surely, we know Tess is not the demure woman she used to appear. This wicked woman’s willingness to succumb to the lowest level gets on our nerves!
