Part 1: Phoenix in Flannel Full Movie Plot Summary
The Jones family of Phoenix in Flannel, were of the martial world. They ran a martial arts Sect called the Stellar Sect. It had been in the family for generations and an heir was chosen before the passing of every present master. This time around, grandfather Jones was the reigning master of the Sect.
He was a strict man and had accrued many enemies in his years as the master and leader of the Jones family. He had a few sons who had fallen in severe battles and was left with one surviving son and a grand son. His one surviving son who should have taken over as the master of Stellar Sect had abandoned the Sect several years ago.
He’d fallen in love with a woman from an enemy Sect, who was rumored to have been practicing forbidden martial art. Because of this the Stellar Sect and grandfather Jones had excommunicated him. But he lived not too far from the mountain where the Sect owned their establishment.
A power had risen in the martial world which spelt doom for every practitioner. The masters, students, advanced spirits and demons feared the Flame Mark. And because it was feared, it was forbidden. But just as much as it was forbidden, it was the most sort after power. All the masters with negative intentions fiercely sort after it and rumors had it that the custodian was Fiona Lynn.
Fiona Lynn was Stanford Jones’s wife. The one for whom he’d been disowned and excommunicated by both the Stellar Sect and the Jones family. They had one daughter who was named Elena Jones. Even though grandfather Jones knew where they were, they lived in hiding because of enemy forces. But somehow, the enemies had discovered their hiding place and sent three strong forces to acquire the Flame Mark.
And before grandfather Jones could arrive with his students to checkup on his only surviving son, these three forces had left desolation in their stead. But the three forces weren’t the cause of death, as the Flame Mark had risen and slaughtered everyone including Stanford and Fiona Jones leaving their daughter as the only survivor.
Elena Jones had lost her both parents that day. But what happened when her father used his last strength to completely block her eight meridians? Was the Flame Mark a blessing or a curse?
Part 2: Phoenix in Flannel Full Movie Character and Cast
Stanford Jones
Stanford Jones of Phoenix in Flannel movie was Fiona Jones’s husband and Elena Jones’s father. He was a student of the Stellar Sect and the third son of grandfather Jones. He’d met Fiona during one of his spiritual pilgrimages and had fallen in love with her. Fiona practiced the kind of martial arts that was regarded as forbidden by the Stellar Sect.
Because of this, when he introduced his fiancé to the Stellar Sect, grandfather Jones refused consent and Stanford decided to elope with Fiona. She was pregnant with Elena at the time and they moved to the base of the Stellar Sect mountain, where they built as small house and started a family. When their daughter was born, she was marked with the almighty Flame Mark.
Elena Jones
Elena Jones was the daughter of Stanford and Fiona Jones. Which made her a grand child to grandfather Jones. Because Elena carried the forbidden mark, Stanford and Fiona remained hidden. When Elena was 12, trouble came calling and before she and her father could return from the farm, Fiona had been seriously injured. The assailants thought she was the bearer of the mark and demanded to take it from her.
But she knew it was a dangerous force in the wrong hands and because she’d refused, they killed her and tried to kill Elena and her father. This was why she screamed and the Flame Mark arose to wipe everyone out. Even though he had excommunicated his last son, grandfather Jones continued to care deeply about him and his family. He had a practice of visiting the woods that surrounded their home with nonsensical excuses. This was why he found them after desolation.
William Jones
Williams Jones of Phoenix in Flannel movie was the son of grandfather Jones’s second son. Because all his direct sons were dead, William became the apparent heir to the Jones family and the custodian of the Stellar Sect. He’d accompanied his grandfather to the woods with several other students of the Sect. When they arrived at Stanford’s compound and found everyone dead, only Elena was left.
William recognized Elena and moved for her to join the Stellar Sect as it was her birth right. She was his sister, after all, and the grand daughter of the Jones family. It would have been a smooth transition, but alas Elena’s eight meridians were blocked. This meant she was useless in the martial world. And therefore, grandfather Jones decided she would only be a janitor in the Stellar Sect mountains.
Part 3: Phoenix in Flannel Full Movie Review
In Phoenix in Flannel movie, we would find that being a janitor around martial arts students wasn’t going to be easy for Elena Jones. This was a world where power meant something and those with even the littlest of it carried themselves with such pride. She was not allowed to join in training sessions and could only observe others, who were just a few years older, doing things she could only dream about. She was downtrodden, mocked and bullied by the other students.
They felt she was an eyesore to their Sect. Things got out of hand when they grabbed her one morning and after beating her up, tried to force her to leak the shoes of one of them. William walked in on them and beat everybody up, which didn’t seat well with his grandfather. He set William on a serious punishment, beating him up with the edge of his heavy walking stick.
It wasn’t just the action or method of punishment, it was the fact that he was humiliating him in front of his subordinates. William was the only one who ever saw Elena, who took care of her and defended her honor. It was excruciating watching him undergo humiliation as a result of her. But nothing was as painful as when a stronger power busted into the hall and held everybody captive.
It was another excommunicated student of the Stellar Sect. He was offended because to him, he’d been wrongfully thrown out. But the students said he’d been leniently punished for practicing a forbidden martial art. While he should have been killed, grandfather Jones had shown mercy. But what happened when he attempted to kill William Jones?
Part 4: What You Can Learn From Phoenix in Flannel
Phoenix in Flannel movie holds a few lessons for young viewers. While the Flame Mark was considered a curse and therefore forbidden in the martial world, we must acknowledge that the bearer of it was the most powerful being alive in such a world. But Elena Jones was long suffering, patient and slow to anger. No matter how she was punished or how much injustice she was dealt, Elena controlled the dark force within her and only arose when there were no other choices.
