The Bible was the first to mentioned such absurdity in a nuclear family setting, when it stated “Esau I hate but Jacob I love.” This portion had formed the basis of discrimination in many religious families even in the twentieth century. The movie, family by love or by blood illustrated something similar, when two boys with legal claims to the Snyder family fought over their rights.
Why was Esau hated and Jacob loved? Was it because both Esau and Jacob were not children of the same parents? While Matthew Snyder was said to be the lost but found biological son of the Snyder family, Timothy Snyder was adopted many years before Matthew returned home. But it would seem that finding Matthew eliminated every rights Timothy enjoyed in the Snyder family.

Part 1: All About family by love or by blood Movie—Storyline and Details
The Snyder family was one of the wealthiest families of America in the futuristic setting of this movie. They were made up of scientists who studied space travel, time and all the planets. The Snyder family business also involved nuclear discoveries, where they produced sleeping pods for missions into space. At this point in their world, a natural disaster threatened to end the earth.
America called for help and NasX, with the help of the Snyder family and other world organizations, discovered a solution that could preserve biological life forms. The problem was that the mission into space required a human being who had the rare genotype which they named the pilgrim gene. It was expected that the human who volunteered would spend 30yrs in coma.
It was during this coma that he should have completed the mission. It had taken the space of 5yrs, but everyone who had been tested so far were lacking the seriously important pilgrim gene. This was until a seventeen years old boy volunteered and tested positive. It meant the search was done and finally, earth had a hope for survival. But the head scientist discovered his identity.
He was Timothy Snyder, the adopted son of the Snyder family and from all she knew about them, they would be mad if they discovered Timothy was the volunteer and might even close down the operation and get her fired. But Timothy refused to change his mind. He, instead, pleaded that his identity be kept a secret until he’d successfully launched into space. Why was this?
Timothy Snyder was an only child to a single parent, research doctor who worked in Snyder Tech. An explosion had resulted in his sudden demise around when Timothy was two years old. Whether out of guilt or that of responsibility, the Snyder family adopted him. At first, it was bliss. He was a smart boy and quickly fell in line with the family attributes. Childhood was very sweet…
But at the age of 15, the Snyder family’s deep injury was reopened, when an information arrived that their son who’d gone missing from birth had been found. The boy was named Matthew and returned to the Snyder family mansion. It was disheartening to him that Timothy had taken his place for many years, enjoying the things which were rightfully his and he would stop at nothing to remind him his place.

For whatever reasons, Matthew Snyder rarely smiled. It had been a few months since he was returned to the family mansion, but try as he could, Timothy was never able to make friends with him. He seemed all radiant in the presence of other family members, but every discussion with Timothy reeked of contempt. And just about a year into his return, he suddenly started a quarrel.
He’d confronted Timothy for no reasons at the top of the stairs. The brief argument had led to his grabbing him by the throat and pushing him against the wall. By now, Timothy had learned to not indulge in his secret attacks, but to his amazement, Matthew released his hold on his collar and fell off the stairs. This had been so strategically done that he tumbled down to his sister’s feet.

The Snyder family had three elder daughters. The girls were beautiful and intelligent in their own rights. The first daughter was already the CEO of Snyder Tech and the second daughter had been in the army. She was honorably discharged after sustaining an injury in Afghanistan that stole her sight. Timothy had spent the past year building a robotic eyes to help her regain her sight.
His sisters used to be his everything as he’d fallen in love with his family as only a child was capable. Seeing as he was adopted at a very young age, Timothy had no memory of his biological parents. But since the arrival of Matthew Snyder, the actual biological son of the Snyder family, his sisters and even his parents had started to despise everything he represented.

They’d collectively forgotten about his birthdays, nobody bought him Christmas presents anymore. No one cared about PTAs or his grades and classes, to the extent that he’d graduated top of his class, but they had no idea. What they believed about him these days were now only what they learned from Matthew and this young man was determined to ruin everything for him.
Everybody was now focused only on Matthew. What did Matthew want? When was his birthday? How many gifts were enough? And now he’d fallen off the stairs. It was easy to frame Timothy, because he’d just released his grasp on his collar before tumbling down to rest on his sister’s feet. And thus, the little hatred and negligence he was experiencing doubled in every mannerism.

It could be argued that the Snyder family members had concrete reasons to have decided on Matthew I love but Timothy I hate. This was because as far as viewers could tell, Matthew was said to be the biological son of the family, while Timothy was adopted. It could be argued that he deserved anything he got, in fact, some might argue how he should have been very grateful.
But the situation ate at his sanity, like, how does a child deal with rejection? it was difficult to accept that the people who once dotted over him could no longer see him. It was even more heartbreaking that they deemed it right to accuse him of anything Matthew Snyder could think of without even asking him. His words became like vapor, only what Matthew said was acceptable. In a matter of months, he dwindled to the background.
No one could see him. They couldn’t listen to him either. Therefore, after graduating from high school, he first dug out one of his eye balls for an experiment that could possibly restore his sister, Helena’s sight. And in the months he worked on building her own robot, he decided to volunteer for the space project. He was convinced that going to space was a way to reward them for caring for him.
It was on the day he volunteered and was tested that it was discovered that the person who could embark on the space mission was found. This mission had no guarantees of survival, which meant that he was required to fill and sign a death certificate before the launch date. Timothy Synder had said his goodbyes when he finished his sister’s robotic eye. But what happened fifteen minutes until launch time?
