Part 1: What Are The Book’s Plots In The Carter Reed By Tijan & How Are The Characters Portrayed?
What Can We Expect In Reading Carter Reed By Tijan Novel’s Plots?

Book-wise, Tijan writes two sequels to the Carter Reed novels. The first sequel’s plots are all about Carter and Emma’s introductions to each other’s lives.
More precisely, Emma acknowledges Carter as a cold-blooded killer and fearsome predator. The deadly panther also becomes Carter’s nickname in the book version. So, we can imagine how it scares Emma when her brother asks her to contact Carter.
Like the movie version, Carter’s name starts to pop up in Emma’s life after she kills her roommate’s bastard boyfriend. That’s what she does after she witnesses the boyfriend’s harassment of her roommate.
She does it again when her roommate, Mallory, is once again raped. Further book chapters also highlight how Emma uses her gun to team up with Carter against the rival family.
The Bertal family, who belongs to the guy Emma murdered, keeps becoming the rival family in the second sequel. The second sequel also becomes the silent witness to Carter and Emma’s encounters with a possible traitor.
How Does The Author Highlight The Characters’ Personalities?

Tijan loves writing action-oriented girls, and Emma Martins in both Carter Reed novel sequels count. Chapter 1 of the first sequel shows she never touches the gun, but she does it anyway and kills Jeremy.
In the book version, Jeremy is more than just a part of the Bertal family’s syndicate. Instead, he also used to be Mallory’s boyfriend. The book also explains why the 911 cancel Emma’s reports effortlessly.
According to the first book sequel, that’s because half of the cops work for Jeremy’s father. As for Ben, he keeps being the jerk who hands Emma over to the Bertal family.
Carter Reed, as the male lead, also has more predatory yet lovable portions of personality descriptions in the book. The book also lets us know that his friendship with Emma’s brother, AJ, has lasted longer than the movie version.
Unlike the movie version, AJ isn’t the only one telling Emma all about Carter. Amanda, whom Emma meets at Ben’s, also tells her about this fearsome mob boss.
Part 2: What About The Interactive Movie’s Stories & Characters’ Portrayals In Carter Reed Drama?
How Do The Interactive Movie’s Main Characters Get To Know Each Other?

Carter Reed’s interactive movie version skips Amanda’s attempts to introduce Emma to Carter. Instead, the plot begins when Emma’s brother, AJ, tells her all about the two conflicting mafia families.
Emma was about to call AJ’s delusion out until she saw Mallory’s harassment in the diner where they work. She was about to resolve the situation peacefully by letting the 911 operator take care of the harasser.
Unfortunately, that’s not what happens, because the harasser is the mafia prince, Jeremy Bertal. His acts of cancelling the 911 report and Emma’s wishes to save Mallory led her to end Jeremy’s life.
In her panic, she does what her brother advises and what she has hesitated to do. That’s to approach Carter Reed, the mafia king who leads the Reed family.
Carter turns out to be more ruthless and predatory than what AJ implies to be. In the past, he has also shown attraction to Emma. That’s when he grabs her hands after she trips from her bike. Then, he fades away as if nothing had happened.
Emma’s attempts to clarify how she killed Jeremy and doesn’t look for a cover intrigue Carter. At the same time, Carter’s reactions to Emma’s bravery in approaching him are also priceless.
How Does The Movie Version Portray Carter, Emma, And Other Characters?

Like the book version, Carter Reed Interactive’s vertical drama emphasizes the main characters’ POVs. However, the movie version lets us discover Carter’s soft side for Emma.
We have seen his soft side five years before the main plot’s stories begin. He lets Emma see it once again after he discovers Emma’s ways of perceiving him.
Emma remains the main female character who possesses no fear in approaching figures like Jeremy and Carter. She has killed Jeremy, and even when Carter has appeared before her, she isn’t desperate for his protection.
One of the movie’s episodes even shows Emma calling Carter a monster without hesitation. She also shows a great deal of resistance when Carter tries to escort her.
Friendship-wise, the movie version also deepens Emma’s POVs when she talks with Mallory. That’s her vulnerable BFF whom she has rescued from Jeremy’s harassment and Ben’s threats. As for Amanda, we believe she’s a book-exclusive character.
So, instead of Amanda, we see Emma’s brother, AJ. That’s until Carter’s guilt of being unable to save him from his death takes him over.
Part 3: What Do We Think About The Portrayals & Plots Of Carter Reed By Tijan Book & Movie?

Tijan is the best at portraying kickass women, and Carter Reed’s Emma is one of the examples! Two chapters in the book highlight how she tries to overcome her fear while pointing her gun at Jeremy.
She knows how Jeremy uses his father’s influence to cancel her reports. Such a degree of fear is also something we discover in the movie version.
Jeremy’s background stories in the book and the movie might be different. In the book, he used to be Mallory’s boyfriend, while the movie shows he’s just a random harasser. Still, Emma fights anyway, and that’s how she attracts Carter.
We also love how Emma redefines Carter as the monster! We can see her bravery when she says Carter only becomes a monster to those who deserve it.
The movie also gives us a more convincing villain from the rival family, a.k.a. the Bertals. He’s Jeremy Bertal’s brother, and he only appears when Ben hands Emma and Carter over to him.
Speaking of Ben, this minor villain appears more in the book’s first three chapters. In the movie, his role diminishes after Emma and Carter fight the Bertals. That’s what we love, for that way, Ben’s cowardice and absence of fighting skills become more evident in the movie.
Part 4: Which Platform Can We Use To Enjoy The Interactive Version Of Carter Reed Movie?

Carter Reed not only stays as one of the essential elements in Tijan’s novel universe. Instead, the book and the movie versions complement one another in the ways each character and plot are portrayed.
Jeremy keeps being the actual bastard monster whom Emma kills in both versions’ flashbacks. Meanwhile, Mallory stays as Emma’s BFF, who frequently needs her help in getting rid of the harassers.
Carter Reed, a.k.a. the main male character, tends to have cameo appearances in the first three book chapters. That’s why the movie version highlights the balance between his monster and predatory and his loving and protective sides.
As for the movie, it’s available as a ReelShort Interactive form. In other words, you can download the APP and use your coins and coupons to unlock the episodes and choices.
