Elena was 20yrs old and a final year student of the state university when she met a handsome young man named Ace Atkins. This young man was tall, well chiseled and extremely attractive. They got talking on the bus on her way returning from school and before the week ran out, they’d gotten to know each other better. And so a wonderful relationship started to brew.
Elena even got comfortable with inviting him to the Pearson mansion where they enjoyed spending time with each other. This was also how Ace got to meet Mr. Pearson, who didn’t like him very much because he was not from the wealthy circles of the city. The man only dreamed of giving his daughter to a family as wealthy as he was, so as to be sure she was always fine.
But he wasn’t against the relationship because Elena really did seem to be into the young man. He wasn’t wrong though, because unlike Elena, Ace was from a middle class family and had been living in the small town house he inherited from his parents. All was well until he decided to sign up for the army. After trying to stop him without success, Elena gave her support.
On the night before his deployment, the two lovers met in the basement of Ace’s house, where he was playing target range. He was so full of adrenaline, because as a young man activities that involved guns and a display of strength was always attractive. They said their passionate goodbyes as Ace proposed and promised they would get married when he returned.
After three years, the war was finally over and the soldiers were announced to be returning that day. He was doing every kind of menial jobs that a young man could find on the streets of Colorado before he decided to sign up for the army. Because this was an already made decision, Elena couldn’t change his mind after they met in just before six months to his deployment date. Ace had left for war as a complete man, but had returned with a missing leg.

Elena Pearson was the female lead. She was the precious daughter of not just a wealthy family, but also a famous one. She was beloved by her father and never got to meet her mother. Ace Atkins had been a God sent in her life, introducing her to everything she didn’t know could happen between a man and a woman.
Letting him go to war hadn’t been easy, but she survived the three years long wait by clinging to the engagement ring he had given her when he proposed three years ago before leaving for Afghanistan. From running errands in the company, to becoming secretary, he was promoted to the executive team where he started to meddle in the affairs of the company. Elena had spent the past three years turning and rolling in her bed. She was a woman in love and this was a good day because in a few hours the flight bearing returning soldiers will arrive at the airport. She rallied around, got herself prepared and headed to the airport.
It was here that someone informed her that Ace had in fact returned to the country a month ago. An exposed adult would have understood the reason, but Elena was a simple daddy’s girl and was shielded as a result. She ran off immediately to confirm the information at his home. But she found him kissing another woman and would break up with her.

Just as she had no idea why a soldier would return from war before it was over, she had no idea Ace had lost a foot. She continued to try and speak to him, but Ace had seen her approaching and had planned with his doctor to pretend they were dating. He refused to speak to her and informed her he had found someone else.
But this was because two days after he arrived the country as a wounded soldier, the news had reached Elena’s father and he’d gone to visit him at the hospital. He’d offered two million dollars and had pleaded with Ace to let his daughter go. His reasons were that a man who couldn’t stand couldn’t take care of his precious child.
