Rebecca Mary Schmautz as Nina White
Meet the beautiful actress, Rebecca Mary Schmautz, who is a Vancouver actor & producer. She studied acting for film and television at Vancouver Film School and strives to expand her acting community and her craft.
In her ReelShort debut, Rebecca plays Love in the Ashes of Us main character Nina White. She was the dutiful wife of Easton Jones. Born with a birthmark on her face, Nina was bullied for her looks and made to feel she was broken. But Easton loved her and wasn’t ashamed of her as she gave her everything to him.
She fueled his dreams and supported him when he was nothing. Through her love and dedication, Easton graduated and started his own company. With Nina expecting twins, she hoped her marriage would now turn happier; instead, she discovered her husband’s affair that broke her heart and fueled her plan to leave him with his mistress and disappear from his life.
Ryan Whitty as Easton Jones
Next up in the Love in the Ashes of Us cast list, we have Ryan Whitty. Originally from Ontario, Canada, Ryan has been performing since 2014. He studied the Performing Arts Prep Program at Sheridan College. The actor is currently finding fame through vertical movies.
Ryan plays Easton Jones, a broke lab rat who fell in love with Nina White. From hauling bricks by day and testing samples at night to being the biggest pharma CEO, Easton Jones was an inspiring businessman, but as a husband? He was an ungrateful jerk.
Easton sidelined his wife because of her birthmark, hid her from the world as he climbed the success ladder. In the end, he had an affair with his business partner, who looked similar to his wife. He claimed he loved Nina, but his actions said otherwise, as his lust and clouded judgment had him lose his twins and wife.

Aslan Jordan-Knox is yet another fantastic cast member of the Love in the Ashes of Us movie. She’s a Canadian actress who’s based in Vancouver. She moved into film and television in 2022, and in 2026 she made her ReelShort debut as Candice Black. Apart from acting, Aslan is also a singer with a background in musical theater and a book reader.
Candice Black was the rising star of corporate. She was the business partner of Easton Jones, the biggest pharma company that went public. No doubt that Candice was a smart and kick-ass businesswoman, but she was a homewrecker who tried to break Easton’s marriage by stirring trouble.
Part 2: Love in the Ashes of Us Plot Summary: From Sweethearts to Broken Married Couple
Nina White and Easton Jones met in high school in Love in the Ashes of Us movie. Unlike others, Easton couldn’t care less about Nina’s face with a unique birthmark. Instead, he loved her for her exceptional beauty.
On the other hand, Nina couldn’t care less about Easton being broke. She wasn’t settling down; instead, she was choosing a man who loved her, and she loved him back twice as much. After surviving high school years, Nina and Easton got engaged. He promised his love and loyalty as he handed her marriage dissolution papers to walk away with everything and leave him with nothing if he ever betrayed her or broke her heart.
Easton also promised to spoil Nina with diamonds when he made it big. Six years later, he was the CEO of Jones Corp., the million-dollar pharma company. His wife, Nina White, was expecting twins.
At his company’s event, celebrating Jones Corp going public, Easton brought out the diamond ring he once promised to Nina. But he didn’t put the ring on Nina; instead, he put it on his business partner, Candice Black.
This broke Nina’s heart as she decided she was going to leave her husband with his soulmate and give them a happy ending as she decided to turn their wedding anniversary into a wedding event for Easton and Candice.
Love in the Ashes of Us plot, however, takes a turn when Easton, lying about business meetings, flies to meet Candice in Honolulu. Nina White followed her husband to see his betrayal with her own eyes. To see if he was tender with Candice when no one was watching, like he was with her.
At Honolulu, Nina caught Easton and Candice cheating. Seeing the truth in her own eyes, Nina realized their marriage was done. But her life took an unexpected, horrific turn while returning home when, on a flight with her husband and his mistress, the plane faced turbulence and had to crash land.
As Easton saved Candice, Nina started to hemorrhage and began crashing, losing blood. The flight attendants, to help Nina, asked Easton if they could use his helicopter to get her out. Unaware the pregnant woman was his wife, Easton, refused to offer help with his billion-dollar deal on the line.

Episode 7
Nina and Easton were together even when he had nothing, even when fast food felt like luxury. Over the years, even with Easton getting successful, Nina had never asked for more or complained. Moreover, Easton loved Nina; this confession led Candice to question Easton about why his wife was missing by his side when it counted.
Was it because Nina didn’t go to Ivy League, or was it because of Nina’s birthmark that Easton refused to be seen with given his brand’s image? Or was it both?
As Easton felt conflicted, Candice encouraged Easton he needed a woman on his level. As Easton wasn’t scraping by like he had met Nina. Poor Nina overheard her husband confess how he built Jones Corp to fix Nina’s face. He was no longer the man she loved.
Episode 11
Easton promised Candice everything was going to be fine as their plane began to crash. While Nina tried to remain calm, she assured her babies that they were okay. But as things got worse, Nina realized something wasn’t right with her babies as she began to bleed.
As Nina started to hemorrhage, Easton felt like something was off. But with them being late for their shareholder meeting, Easton asked the flight attendant to let them disembark first, even when the flight attendant informed them about passengers with medical emergencies requiring priority. Would Easton’s lust and greed ruin his family?
