Her name was Summer Hayes, she was the four years old daughter of Scarlett Hayes, the first daughter of the Hayes family. This family ruled the high society of Brooklyn and owned a thriving company that had branches all over the country. Scarlett was the CEO of this company, because, her mother’s will had stated so. She’d died a few years ago from a mysterious accident.
This woman held the secret to the Hayes family wealth. She was the heiress of her family before getting married to Scarlett’s father. At his end, Stephen Hayes was simply a random, nobody she’d fallen in love with and allowed to marry after a lengthy disagreement. And it would seem her parents were right, as in the end her death was a result of her beloved husband’s infidelity.
Stephen Hayes had only gotten married to Scarlett’s mother because of her family’s wealth and the need to change his destiny. He had kept the actual love of his life on hold as he completed the requirements of marriage with Scarlett’s mother, and immediately returned to her as soon as he settled in. Turned out the women simultaneously got pregnant and gave birth to daughters.
Stephen managed to remain married until Scarlett was seven years old. This was when he connived with his mistress to have his wife murdered and replaced. Territory was something the people before him had dominated many years before he even saw the break light of destiny. To get some for himself, it was important that others ended in a brutal war.
The result of this war was that Connor acquired many enemies. He was constantly being chased by people who didn’t like him. This was why he lived in hiding. He’d been disguising as a truck driver the night he rescued a pretty young woman from a group of bandits. She’d rewarded his efforts with a heated sex session. But women and children weren’t suited for his kind of lifestyle.
He’d therefore abandoned her as he went to set desolation to his enemy’s camp. They had made no introductions and he’d forgotten about her in that instant.
