Getting Outplayed is the last thing on Brooklyn Diaz’s mind when it comes to gaming. She doesn’t hesitate to save her money until she can buy the latest gaming devices. Then, she connects those devices until she can connect with the Blackgrove Reign Tournament.
She plays the MMORPG through her VR glasses and other gaming devices in her free time. That’s because she has to rank Echo up until Echo can beat the reigning champion, Thorne.
What Brooklyn doesn’t realize is that the player for the overrated Thorne is somewhere around her. He is Ethan, the hot, cocky frat king, who also happens to be her BFF’s older brother.
Ethan regularly mocks Brooklyn and even makes fun of her actual sad stories. It fuels Brooklyn’s rage until she takes a full offensive stance against Ethan’s character, Thorne, in the game.
She knows dethroning Thorne is her key to victory. Yet, what happens when she slowly lets her guard down around him? At this point, Ariel Yasmine, a.k.a. the actress behind Brooklyn’s role, plays her role well.
Ariel Yasmine has previously appeared in ReelShort’s Move Aside I’m The Final Boss. There, she becomes the materialistic villain, Hannah.
Ethan Cambry (Game Alias: Thorne; Actor: Cameron Porras)
Ethan Cambry never gets Outplayed for as long as he stays in the Blackgrove Reign Tournament. In this Interactive movie, he is more than just a reigning champion in the world’s most popular game.
Instead, his in-game character, Thorne, becomes a trending topic even among non-gamers. Moreover, he’s got huge fangirl bases in and outside the Blackgrove Reign’s ecosystem.
Academically, he is a graduate student who became a TA in Composition 101 for Maple Valley College’s freshmen. He is the frat boy who gets used to people following him around.
No wonder he becomes a cocky individual, and some episodes even show his bullying tendencies. He loves to tease and make fun of newcomers like Brooklyn. Additionally, he threatens Brooklyn until she has no other choice but to reveal herself.
Talking about Ethan’s behind-the-scenes actor, that’s Cameron Porras, a specialist in using fantasy props and taking naughty guys’ roles!
This actor is the same guy playing Rowan Calloway in the Taming My Bullies movie. We can also see his acting in ReelShort’s The Daughter Of Zeus and The Lost Son Returns As The Duke.
Julius (Game Alias: Juice; Actor: Daniel Edu)
Early episodes of Outplayed Interactive full movie portray Juice as the cheating player. He uses cuffs, and, according to Brooklyn a.k.a. Echo’s knowledge, those things are forbidden in the game.
Still, Juice uses it while teaming up against another creepy player to kill Echo. He even weaponizes Echo’s needs for an ally by forcing the player behind her, a.k.a. Brooklyn, to send nudes.
That’s only because Juice claims to never know Echo’s real face. Real-world-wise, Juice is Julius, Ethan’s frat brother.
Julius tries hard to cover the ugliness of his personality in front of Ethan, who plays Thorne. So, we can imagine how manipulative, lecherous, and superficial this guy is!
Actor-wise, this is the first time we see the Nigerian-Hispanic-American actor, Daniel Edu, on a ReelShort screen. His skills in boxing, stunt performance, fight choreography, and weight lifting help him execute Juice’s role!

Why Is It Crucial For Brooklyn To Win The Blackgrove Reign Tournament?
Brooklyn Diaz, a gamer girl, is the main character of ReelShort’s Outplayed movie. She has likely played many games in her bedroom, but only the Blackgrove Reign Tournament captivates her interest.
Here, she is Echo, the fearless newcomer ready to fight even the reigning champion. Brooklyn feels safe here, especially when she knows whoever wins gets the $50,000 prize.
The $50,000 prize isn’t only something Brooklyn would use to pay for her trailer park rent. Instead, that’s her freedom ticket from the trailer park. Her victory means she wouldn’t return to the trailer park that becomes a silent witness to her mother’s abusive behaviors.
Brooklyn’s mother cares for nobody but herself, and she loves using Brooklyn as her scapegoat. She forces the underage Brooklyn to buy some bottles of beer for her boyfriend. When it doesn’t work, she enters Brooklyn’s room by force to steal and force-sell her gaming devices.
Brooklyn manages to break free from her mother’s brutal and sudden attacks. This time, she wears her VR glasses with a burning desire to win the competition. She won’t let her mother cause her another automatic elimination in her favorite game!
What Does Brooklyn Encounter One Year After Her Mother Steals Her Devices?
One year later, in Outplayed vertical drama, Brooklyn has entered Maple Valley College. She is still the proud, brave, and fearless gaming girl with her VR device. She even explains her needs for the prizes to her new best friend, Cass.
She and Cass have some chit-chats until a guy who looks like Blackgrove Reign’s Thorne appears. Later episodes reveal this guy is Ethan Cambry, the frat boy who has friends and fangirls backing him up.
For him, it’s not enough that he mocks Brooklyn and does not take her sob stories seriously. He also plunges Brooklyn into the mini swimming pool and pretends to steal her first kiss. Ethan also reaches the peak of his meanness when he breaks Brooklyn’s waterproof VR glass.
Brooklyn thought her suffering as a freshman at Maple Valley College had ended until the next class. Composition 101 is more than a class to construct arguments in an essay. Instead, the TA also turns out to be the same cocky Ethan.
Even in class, Ethan calls Brooklyn Competent but Soulless when he gives Brooklyn’s essay a C grade. He also catches Brooklyn playing the Blackgrove Reign game and threatens to kick her out of all of his classes.
Will Brooklyn survive Ethan, or will Ethan show his hidden soft-hearted and protective side to Brooklyn?
