Actor, writer, and director Cole Gerdes plays Stop That Homeless Man Is an American Hero main character Ethan Barrett. He was a true hero of America, having served half his life for his country. But when he lost his army buddy Pierce on the battlefield, Ethan, with a heavy heart, returned with his friend’s ashes to let him rest in his hometown.
However, this retired veteran, who’s honored by the president of the country, is mistaken for an undocumented immigrant by a local sheriff while escorting Pierce’s ashes back home. To make sure Pierce wouldn’t be left in a foreign land, Ethan decided to escort his ashes personally back home to his Twin Maples City.
Returning from the battlefield, Ethan Barrett, the broken soldier, saved a woman and her daughter in danger from a kidnapper. She was Victoria, a rising lawyer in the city who promised her help anytime Ethan needed her.
Later, Ethan Barrett was welcomed by the FBI director, Officer Corbin, to escort him to the grand ceremony held by the President to honor Ethan with a Medal of Honor. Holding onto Pierce’s ashes, it was he who Ethan believed to be a real hero as he received this prestigious honor.
At the ceremony, Ethan Barrett, alongside the fallen comrade Pierce Penn, is honored by the president with a medal of honor. The president also arranged for a grand escort, a trip to their hometown as a send-off for these real heroes. But Ethan Barrett, finally back from war after serving half his life, wanted to enjoy the peace.
So refusing the president’s hero’s send-off, Ethan Barrett took the road, arriving at the Twin Maples City, trying to honor his promise to Pierce. But he is taken away from the local Sheriff James Jones, who mistook Ethan for homeless.
At the station, the sheriff is determined Ethan is an illegal immigrant when his ID refuses to run through their verification. As a result, James, alongside his other corrupt officers, turned the security cameras off to disrespect and torture Ethan Barrett, hoping for a confession.

This resulted in Ethan taking matters into his hands, calling Victoria Lawson to represent him as his lawyer, and bringing his old buddy, now the FBI director, to the local town to protect Pierce’s ashes and finally reveal his true identity as the American Hero.

Despite Ethan no longer serving, officer Corbin showed his respect to the American Hero as he revealed Ethan would be soon honoured by the President with a medal of Honor with a grand ceremony held.
But for Ethan, the true hero was his buddy, Pierce, the fallen Comrade, whose courage would always live on as Ethan participated in the ceremony where he carried the ashes of his real hero to be honoured by the President.

Ethan Barrett was returning to twin Maples City, escorting his fallen Comrade’s ashes when he was stopped by Sheriff James. Judging Ethan by his looks, the sheriff offered him a ride, but only to drop him far away from the city, refusing to allow him entry into the town.
Sheriff James not only asserted that Ethan was unwelcome in the Twin Maples City, but he also had the audacity to accuse Ethan of being a homeless vagrant trying to cause havoc in the town. Despite the sheriff’s hostility, Ethan Barrett refused to walk away without honoring his promise to his buddy.
