It’s the line that Emma Parker convinced herself the first time Rowan Calloway extinguishes her long-standing perception of him. For weeks that they engage in a battlefield of pranks and close stand-offs, he does his best to protect his image as a heartless bully.
She believes it, and assumes that by the time they’re finished, she’d forget him eventually. But her heart has been invested deeper than she expected. One moment, she’s cursing his whole lineage, the other, she’s praying to see him on the next life.
How did such a violent feud turn into something so passionate? How come that the victim becomes the one in control and the bully becomes the submissive one?
