Part 1: Young and In Love: The Genius and the Bad Boy Movie Introduction
The Genius and the Bad Boy plot begins with Sophie solving a math equation to win a scholarship at the Freemont Academy. At her new school, she’s shamed for her plus size body. But Sophie is already used to everyone joking about her figure and doesn’t fail to stand up for herself.
Her tight uniform after her mother accidentally let it shrink in the laundry didn’t help Sophie on her first day at school. Her shirt popped open, and she got seated next to the bad boy who interfered with her chemistry project. As a result, Sophie and the bad boy Rylan got detention on the first day of school.
But there’s more: Sophie was going to be a tutor for Rylan if she wanted to keep her scholarship to prove she deserved her spot. Just when Sophie thought Rylan hated her, he proved her wrong by expressing his interest in her.

Rylan Barry, the bad boy, the hottest guy in Freemont Academy. He’s also the son of the headmaster. Known for his rude personality and anger issues, Rylan was stunned by Sophie, the smart girl who refused to believe she was beautiful.
But Rylan wasn’t always a tough kid. He was a typical mama’s boy; however, after losing his mother, Rylan toughened up. At home, his father was a bully who abused Rylan.

Tanner’s Bet
Sophie, the Genius and the Bad Boy main character, was new at Freemont Academy. One look at Rylan, and she knew he was trouble and had vowed to stay away from him. But she failed to realize it was Tanner, the real villain.
With Sophie showing up at her first day of class with her shrunken uniform, Tanner and his friend Lana shamed Sophie. Tanner even had the audacity to say Sophie was begging for attention through her outfit choice.
As Tanner and Lana get to talking about Sophie, Tanner mentions Sophie having a pretty face and that he would throw her a pity bone. And Lana disagreed, knowing Tanner would throw up before he could even get off. So Tanner and Lana got in a bet for thousands of dollars.
His plan? To throw a party and invite Sophie to join him so he could win her virginity. Despite Rylan confronting Tanner and warning him to stay away from Sophie, Tanner refused. He made Rylan look like the bad guy as he turned Sophie against Rylan using fake concern.
As a result, Sophie fell for Tanner’s plan. Taking up Tanner’s invitation she attended the party only to get drugged by Tanner who wanted to steal Sophie’s virginity and win the bet and also get under his brother’s skin by sleeping with the girl he liked.
Rylan Saving Sophie
The Genius and the Bad Boy plot got interesting. Rylan tried to save Sophie by asking her not to drink anything Tanner would give her. But Sophie didn’t believe him and thought Rylan was making all this up, as she couldn’t believe a hot guy like Tanner would show interest in her.
Her insecurity worked in Tanner’s favor as Sophie took the drugged drink and almost blacked out. Tanner, seizing the opportunity, got Sophie alone and tried to take advantage of her despite Sophie saying no.
However, Rylan soon arrived to save Sophie and teach his brother a lesson for drugging girls.
