Part 1: Breakdown of When Love Is Unequal Movie Plot
Mr. Dawson had gotten married to a woman who was approved by his mother. She was the daughter of one of her prominent church members, reputably a virgin and a very good child of God. He was a human resource manager for a multinational company in the city and had just purchased a little apartment in a high rise building located not too far from his working place.
Mrs. Dawson was a house wife from the moment she arrived in Hong Kong. And not too long after the marriage, she got pregnant with their first child and gave birth to a daughter. She was named Livia and loved dearly by her parents. This love was reflected in the ways they celebrated her birthdays, how she never lacked… her parents dotted over her and she was the center of every decision.
Mr. Dawson was in the habit of constantly buying her expensive toys, life was a bed of roses for the little princess. But this was until Mrs. Dawson got pregnant the second time. By the time Livia became five, her mother had given birth to the family’s second daughter. And naturally attention became divided.
But little Livia was intelligent and calculating. She also loved her little sister very much. About two weeks ago, she’d been surprised to see her mother installing a heavy duty lock on the lower door of the refrigerator. She’d inquired for reasons and Mrs. Dawson had taken the time to explain that a kid had almost frozen to death inside a refrigerator the same size as their own.
She also had a social media video which she displayed for Livia to watch. And about a week ago, she’d found some reasons to empty out that area of the fridge, so that there were nothing there to take up space. Today, little Jennifer Dawson was throwing a tantrum, her mother had been trying to steady her without success. She’d instantly exited the room and left her to Livia to watch over…
Livia had decided to lower the air conditioning so as to help her sister’s temperature stabilize. Mrs. Dawson was back almost immediately and was mad at Livia. But Mrs. Dawson wasn’t just offended, as by some witchcraft or miracle, Livia had become a wicked, thirty years old woman who desired to have her little sister murdered. She dragged her to the fridge and locked her inside.

Livia Dawson
Livia Dawson was the main character of When Love Is Unequal. She was around the age of five when she committed the crime that had her sentenced to death by freezing, by her own mother. The woman had complained about her baby’s temperature and briefly exited the room after asking Livia to watch her sister. And Livia had thought it wise to help by reducing the AC.
Mrs. Dawson had immediately returned to the room only to scream down hell. She got her husband’s attention, as this was his off day and he’d been watching TV in the sitting room. When her father arrived, Livia’s mother dragged her by the arm, all the way across the bedroom and sitting room, towards the kitchen were she locked her in the fridge as her father watched.
Mrs. Thompson
Mrs. Thompson played a supporting role in When Love Is Unequal. She was a divorced woman who lived in the opposite apartment at the Dawsons. She’d visited Mrs. Dawson within the hours that little Livia’s body was resting in the refrigerator. But because this woman cared nothing for the little girl, following the fact that she envied her for seeming loved by her parents…
She never noticed there was something wrong when the toddler in the house didn’t appear to welcome her. Mrs. Thompson was like the first responder to an accident scene. Little Livia may have survived if she’d only but noticed. But this was a woman who took pleasure in pushing the little girl off her expensive toys whenever she found her playing alone outside the building.
Mr. and Mrs. Dawson
Mr. and Mrs. Dawson were also the main characters of When Love Is Unequal. Obviously, they were Livia Dawson’s parents. While. Mr. Dawson was the family’s only breadwinner, which required him to be up and about, and sometimes work overnight… Mrs. Dawson was a house wife. This meant that while Mr. Dawson was not always available, his wife never left the house.
For someone who was working and not always around, it was possible for Mr. Dawson to be forgetful and probably emotionally distanced from his daughter. But Mrs. Dawson, whose only duties were to watch over the children, clean, cook and shop… who spent the greater hours of everyday within their little apartment, had locked her daughter in the fridge and abandoned her.

When Love Is Unequal episode 1:
Mrs. Dawson had returned a few seconds after she exited the bedroom for something important and had discovered that Livia had lowered the AC. She’d called for her husband, shouted at the little girl and started to drag her by the arm. When she arrived in front of the refrigerator she’d taken the time to fortify before hand, she unlocked it and commanded her to enter.
While Mr. Dawson watched without any objections, the woman locked the little girl inside, fully aware that she was using a heavy duty lock. When her husband complained, she informed him that Livia could let herself out at any time. The minutes dragged to hours, until the following morning. Mr. Dawson worried a little when his daughter didn’t come to see him off to work.
When Love Is Unequal episode 5:
But Mrs. Dawson’s explanation was that the little girl must have let herself out of the refrigerator and was now giving an attitude. This woman was a house wife and was comfortably sitting alone in the apartment until Mrs. Thompson’s visit that evening. The two ladies enjoyed themselves without noticing there was something wrong.
When Mr. Dawson returned from work and still worried about the absence of his daughter, Mrs. Dawson claimed she was hiding in her bed. The blanket had been set to seem as if somebody was sleeping under. She would get angry again and decide to vandalize the little girl’s favorite toy. Livia had been dead for almost a day by now and her spirit wept.
When Love Is Unequal episode 8:
It had been almost a week since little Livia was locked and abandoned in the refrigerator. She’d also been dead for the same number of days. But until today, Mr. And Mrs. Dawson had remained convinced that a five years old girl was offended enough to be skipping dinners, breakfasts, playing and school.
Mr. Dawson was on leave and had arranged a two day picnic for the family. It was Mrs. Dawson’s idea to leave little Livia behind to teach her a lesson. And thus, by the time her class teacher came to make inquiries as to why she was skipping school, she’d been missing for almost two weeks.
