Far be it that any aspect of When Love Is Unequal movie be excused to mistakes. But what is baffling is how majority of parents who were full grown adults, who’d had the ability to make the choice of permanence in marriage to the extent of giving birth repeatedly, were blindsided to the fact that a child was not an adult. As while they’d grown up in stages, their kids were not allowed.
Often times, we find parents expecting their toddlers or teenagers to behave like full grown adults. We find parents expecting their children to know certain things that took them many years of growth to learn, or make such adult decisions that they themselves could not make at their little ages. And in so doing, Mr. and Mrs. Dawson deliberately murdered their first daughter.

Part 1: When Love Is Unequal Dailymotion Movie Plot Introduction
Her name was Livia Dawson, she was the five years old daughter to a middle class family that lived in Hong Kong. Mr. Dawson was a successful human resource manager and Mrs. Dawson was a stay at home mom. Which meant she was a housewife with the singular job description of taking care of Mr. Dawson’s children, home and organizing his life while he was the breadwinner.
This meant that Mrs. Dawson spent the twenty four hours of every breaking day within their little apartment in the residential skyscraper where they’d purchased a home immediately after getting married. Mrs. Dawson’s duties involved getting their daughter up early, bathing, feeding and dressing her up for school and sometimes driving her there if she’d missed the school bus.
Little Livia was the apple of her parent’s eyes. She was the first child that brought some color into the marriage. The bundle of joy that made spending life together very joyous and they treasured her so at first. Everything was about her, the world revolved around her needs. Her father took precious time to pick out expensive toys for her pleasure, especially on her birthdays.
She was so cared for that it made the neighbors jealous. Especially Mrs. Thompson, their opposite apartment neighbor. Life was rosy and all was well until Mrs. Dawson got pregnant with their second child, who would be little Miss. Livia’s sibling. After nine months of this pregnancy, she was delivered of another beautiful daughter and every attention turned to her.
The problem wasn’t the physical turning of attention, but Mr. Dawson didn’t know he’d gotten married to a crazy woman. As not only had her attention turned to focus on the baby, who rightfully deserved all the tender love and care, but in her mind, she’d received a better toy to keep her busy and the former one had grown a little too much. As she was no longer a bundle to be held.
This woman sulked until she prepared the perfect murder weapon. She’d read in the news that she owned a fridge large enough to house a child the same size as little Livia and had fortified it with a heavy duty lock. Then the opportunity came and she found reasons to lock little Livia in the fridge with the consent of her husband, and left her there for days until she froze to death.

Livia Dawson
Livia Dawson was the main character of When Love Is Unequal movie. She was five years old when her mother got the idea to murder her. She was a crèche student and even though intelligence wasn’t prioritized at the age, Livia was sensible and considerate. She’d been helping her mother take care of her little sister. The woman had complained about the baby’s health…
Little Livia’s idea as a child was to lower the AC. She was certain it would help her sister’s fever break. Lowering AC meant the room could be cooler, but whether it was supposed to help the baby or not was not a little girl’s decision to make. She was simply doing what she thought was best. But this singular act of kindness was the offense that sentenced her to death by freezing.
Mr and Mrs. Dawson
Mr and Mrs. Dawson were also the main characters of When Love Is Unequal movie. They were a married couple of between thirty to thirty five respectively. While Mr. Dawson was the absolute breadwinner of his family, Mrs. Dawson was a house wife. Being the only breadwinner meant that Mr. Dawson constantly left the house to go to work. He even worked overnight sometimes.
Someone who constantly left the house and spent hours outside, of which sometimes he was required to work overnight could not be expected to know where everything was situated in the house. This was his wife’s only duty. But while this woman spent the entire day in their little apartment of about two rooms, a kitchen and a living area, she sat and waited as Livia froze to death.
Mrs. Thompson
Mrs. Thompson was a supporting character in When Love Is Unequal movie. She was a woman of about forty, who lived in the apartment situated opposite the Dawson’s apartment. This woman was an unhappy fellow, probably because she was divorced and childless. At the age of 40, Mrs. Thompson envied Livia for owning the expensive toys that she was gifted by her father.
She would constantly push her off of one if she was walking by where the little girl was playing. Because a 5 year old little girl was the bane of the 40 years old Mrs. Thompson’s existence, this woman couldn’t notice that something was wrong when she visited the Dawson’s during the hours that Livia’s body rested in the fridge. In fact, her absence was a relief for Mrs. Thompson.

When Love Is Unequal episode 3:
It was Mr. Dawson’s off day and he was watching television in the sitting room. Mrs. Dawson’s baby was crying and she’d been trying for some time to suit it without success. She was in the bedroom with the two of her little kids. Miss. Livia was sitting by the bed, building a little Lego plastic house, when Mrs. Dawson complained about her baby’s temperature and left the room.
About a week ago, she’d purchased a heavy duty lock for the double door refrigerator that had come with the apartment on purchase. Little Livia had been curious as to why such a lock for a refrigerator and she’d explained that a kid had almost frozen to death in one of such refrigerators. She also had a social media video to support this as she displayed it for the girl.
When Love Is Unequal episode 6:
Little did Mrs. Dawson realize she was planning to remove the distraction. Livia had become a distraction the moment she had another baby. Taking care of a toddler and a baby could be something tiresome. It was either they were both crying, or the toddler needed rescuing while changing diapers… Mrs. Dawson subconsciously had many reasons to remove the distraction.
She’d asked Livia to watch over her sister before briefly exiting the room. She would return before a minute to discover she’d lowered the temperature of the air conditioning. This woman had simply entered a different corner to get something and had returned almost immediately, but she was mad enough to not only punish her 5 year old, but to also lock her in the refrigerator.

That she could exert the punishment of picking offense for something that had been done without damages was a problem on its own…taking it to the extent of verbally abusing her was absurd… but dragging her by the arm all the way to the refrigerator and locking her in was intentional! What then do we call it when she sat in the house for days letting her body marinate?
