Plot of I love dopamine
Under the impact of AI, the world of artist Chen Mo has been reduced to a palette of "high-grade gray"-- a muted monotonous tone. When he is forced to deliver his last remaining painting to "No. 8" Café & Floral Studio, an accident occurs: coffee stains ruin his work. Duo An, the owner of the studio and a girl as vibrant and uplifting as dopamine itself, transforms those stains using yellow phalaenopsis orchids, breathing new life and a fresh image into the once lifeless painting.
This "destruction" becomes the starting point of their connection. He uses his philosophy of gray tones to elevate the sophistication of her colors, while she introduces him to the "economics of color"-- helping him embrace the immediate beauty of the present moment. When the anxiety of reality drives Chen Mo to a breakdown, leading him to hurt Duo An with harsh words, he finally comes to his senses. In the end, he abandons copying others' works; instead, he uses the colors she brought into his life to paint unique flowers on the "gray canvas" that was once his world.
Together, they run the "No. 8" Studio. His shades of gray have now become the most beautiful backdrop for her vivid colors.*This entry is participating in the ReelShort Reel Vertical Impact contest
