Rushing to work, Harper crashes into Mary's son, Jason Miller. Recognizing his ex-wife, Jason argues with her. His girlfriend Tiffany Scott and her brother assault Harper and a helpful neighbor, extorting a $45,000 IOU before letting her leave. Later at the hospital, Jason finds his mother awake and trying to blame Harper. Meanwhile, a video of Jason obstructing Harper goes trending. Ashamed, Mary makes her family kneel before Harper. The IOU is destroyed, and Jason's group is arrested.
