In a world where monsters hunt humans, the Mage King Kane drives back the vampire hordes, and one cursed night leaves him with a son he never knew about. There, snobbish nobles, scheming classmates and vampires lurking in the shadows all test him. He wins two loyal friends, the Dean's granddaughter Molly and the bullied Tony. Then a deadly Freshman Trial exposes a traitor at the heart of the Kingdom. As the Mage King closes in on the truth about his family, Caleb has to decide how much of his power to reveal.
