Piper was an only child to the Simmons family. Her mother who used to be the family’s breadwinner was diseased and she was raised by her father. They lived in a small apartment among the lower society members. She was seventeen and a senior high school student. Unbeknownst to her and everybody else, her father secretly nursed a serious gambling problem.
He’d been managing to control it during the years his wife was still alive, but with her death came the rise of depressive activities and one of them was the rise of his gambling sickness. She’d just returned from school, was in her room trying something to wear to a party with her age mates, when she overheard her father calling for help. Turned out he’d been caught in debt.
He was owing the Bellfort family. This family was regarded the wealthiest in the city. Like the Simmons family, their father had also died leaving the wife with the responsibility of caring for their twin sons and large family estate. While they were wealthy and reverenced by the general public, they had a secret life of crimes. They owned five star hotels, restaurants and casinos.
It was in one of these casinos that Piper’s father had lost everything he owned and gone into debt. Mrs. Bellfort was ruthless, she was known to murder people who could not pay up their gambling debts, and had arrived at the Simmons to collect what he owed. It was either he paid up or tortured to death. But Piper rushed to her father’s rescue and Mrs. Bellfort got an idea.
Seeing as Mr. Simmons had no money to clear his two million dollars worth of debt but had a pretty daughter, she would present a way out. Her demands was that Piper signed a marriage agreement if she desired to save her father’s life. The agreement stated that she would move into the Bellfort mansion, train as a suitable wife and subsequently marry one of the twins.
Their names were Drew and Noah Bellfort. Just like Piper, Noah didn’t like his mother’s decision.
