At this point, Ariel also reads Celeste’s last letter to Byron out loud. Still, none of these actions cures Byron’s longing for the late Celeste.
In the end, he wanders off alone to Celeste’s grave. He does it while bringing Celeste’s crumpled letter and the pearl necklace that he broke off earlier. Even after his regretful speeches at the grave, in the end, he shoots himself and dies on Celeste’s grave.
