They cut any remaining connections with him and forced him out without regrets. He was now a rogue wolf wandering in the forest alone.
That wasn’t the only news he carried. The Elders also decided to hail a new Alpha for Blackwater. They had chosen Layla as the rightful successor and they needed her presence to fully solidify their decision. Unsure if it aligned in her best interest, Layla initially refused, expressing her contentment of being Lucian’s wife.
But Lucian drove her to go. He permitted her to fulfill her duty, offering support, and promising to follow her wherever she go. His kind words were everything Layla needed to know there was nothing she should be afraid.
With him by her side, her family advocating for her work, Layla stepped up as the new Alpha of her pack, the same place she thought she’d never see again. Vivian was there.
