This young man had been her ride or die since day one as a student of Maple high, the same high school where all the neighborhood kids of the same age grade went to school.
She was about seventeen and so was the young man. As a nerd, Reese wasn’t the type to be attractive to the opposite sex. There was a lot she didn’t have interest in that young boys of her grade found attractive. That, plus the fact that she was from a poor background, with a father who died when she was very young and a mother who followed suit just a few years later.
To survive, she’d learned to design and sew beautiful clothes and attires, plus all the help that came from the scholarship board. While it was near impossible to have friends of the same sex not to mention the ones of the opposite sex, young Grayson Hayes had noticed the thirteen year old behind her giant glasses and had struck up a friendship that had survived over time.
Because they were kids, they’d grown up more or less like siblings. Which was why Reese knew everything about Grayson and vice versa. She’d noticed her changing feelings in her second year as a senior student. Grayson had also morphed into the Hockey team captain and life had been good. This was the graduation year and to mark it, Prom was scheduled for today’s evening.
