It was murder at the pitch on the night that saw Regina Wallace’s body drop lifeless at the after party of the Lightening basketball club, where Marcel Wallace, the main character of The Comeback Play, was the captain. Regina had pleaded several times with her husband to leave basketball so they could raise their three months old son like a proper family, but he’d delayed.
That night, basketball had turned to the monster that took everything from Marcel Wallace. As a result of her death, he immediately resigned from his career, burnt his collection of trophies, took to the bottle, started living like the homeless and eventually gave away his son. Part 1: All About The Comeback Play Movie—Storyline and Details
Marcel Wallace was the superstar known as the sniper, a nickname that had stuck to him as the best basketballer the federation had witnessed in a long time. He was so good with his craft that his fame went far and wide. He was in his prime, playing for the Lightning basketball club. This had been the club to notice his exceptional talent from high school and offer him a contract.
He’d gotten married to his high school sweetheart and they’d been blessed with a son, who they named Mars. Because she was his biggest fan, Regina Wallace enjoyed being present during every of Marcel’s matches. That, plus the fact that this was the UBA championship finals and they were playing against a powerful team. She sat on the pews with her three months old baby.
The Lightening club remained undefeated as they defended their trophy for the third time in a row. A man named Tyler Murrey, who was the captain of the rival basketball team couldn’t forgive Marcel for the loss. This man had made so much wave in the industry that his name could be heard chanted from the pews. It was also on the commentator’s lips…
And yet again, he’d assured the Lightening club another victory. Tyler decided he had to do something about this man. It was on that same night that he hired the assassin who murdered Regina and destroyed the lives of three people. Marcel was broken and left to raise their little son alone. He was falling very terribly and no amount of alcohol could take away the pain.
When he noticed his decline, he decided to give his son to his sister in-law, burnt his trophies that same night and started to roam the streets of Los Angeles. He would be seen 20yrs later, working at a drive in as a burger maker. He’d also let the alcohol consume him and neglected himself to the extent of wearing a bushy mustache that obscured his appearance.
Mars had also grown into a man, he went by Davis now and had subconsciously followed his father’s footsteps. He’d also been signed by the Lightening club and was full of promise. But the club was failing, the owner was threatening to sell out and if they lost the next match, Mars Davis’s career would end. But what happened when his father became his assistant coach?
Part 2: Overview of the Highlights in The Comeback Play Full Movie
The Comeback Play episode 2:
Marcel Wallace had joined his team after kissing his wife and promising her for the hundredth time that he would retire from basketball after this match. This was the UBA championship finals and he hoped for a win. As the match got heated and the Lightening basketball club continued to lead, Tyler Murrey served an opening that was snatched off by Marcel Wallace, who scored against them.
That was it, the sniper had done his worst and the basketball match which was supposed to be an ordinary game, turned lethal. That same evening, Marcel arrived at the location of the after party and was having a good time. But as Regina arrived with her son, she was stabbed repeatedly before she could reach her husband’s side. This was right before his sight, and his world ended.

The next morning was suppose to the the award presentation ceremony. The winning teams that had made it to the finals, were supposed to disperse after the ceremony. But as the president of the basketball federation invited Marcel Wallace to come up and collect the trophy that would make him the sniper of basketball, he was no where to be seen. His chair was empty.
Turned out he’d been weeping on the streets, strolling aimlessly. Was drinking in the rains and abandoned his career. He would give his son away on the same night and burn down his trophies. Thus, Marcel Wallace disappeared from the spotlight. He was gone for so long that only his legend remain twenty years later, when his son also became a talented basketballer.

Mars Davis was coincidentally signed by the same basketball club which the legendary sniper had played for in his prime. He’d grown up knowing he was abandoned by an irresponsible father. Had seen Marcel a few times and decided he wanted nothing to do with a drunk. And while his role model, the one that motivated him, was known as the sniper, no one could place the face.
He was the young talent of the basketball federation, but the Lightening club was no longer what it used to be. They’d been experiencing so much losses in recent times and had tried to qualify for the championships on several occasions and had failed. They were presently playing against the 99ners and if they lost, the owner of the club threatened to sell out. This was a critical time.
Part 3: What To Expect from The Comeback Play Ending
Apparently, Mars Davis’s career, which had just started, was ending very quickly. If the owner of the Lightening basketball club made do with his threats, it would mean the end of everyone’s career. While the club had a complete suit of players, Mars Davis was the most talented and like his father used to be, he was the present captain of the team. But they needed an urgent miracle.
They’d been scheduled to play against the 99ners for the UBA championship qualifiers. It had been a losing year and they couldn’t afford another defeat. The clubs manager was taking a stroll when he saw a man that fit the description of the sniper. It had been twenty years since the last time anybody saw him, but this was more than a miracle. He would offer him a chance.
He was to become the Lightening club’s hail Mary, the one to help them out of the ditch they were obviously falling into. But when Marcel heard he was required to return to the place where he was terribly hurt, he refused the offer immediately. He’d watched his sons progress from the screens over the years and when he heard the boy was in trouble, he finally accepted the offer.
But this was a man the kids had grown up to regard a loser. The one that was constantly seen staggering his way around in the evenings. The one his son had grown to be ashamed of and definitely had no knowledge of basketball. How could such a man become his assistant coach? Mars Davis decided it was over his dead body.
But Marcel Wallace was determined to make right all that had gone wrong, only his worst challenge wasn’t the emotional one as Tyler Murrey was coaching the 99ners. He’d enjoyed a lengthy and fruitful career in the absence of his nemesis and had climbed the ladder of success. Therefore, what do we expect as the sniper would be put in a position that exposed his identity?
