In The Great And Powerful Genie animated movie, Elijah Baran was once The Great And Powerful Genie. He has existed since Steven Parrish’s youth, perhaps far more than he could imagine.
His ability includes granting three wishes to anyone who finds his magic lamp and summons him. As for the magic lamp, here’s where he stays for the rest of his life.
That’s not something he enjoys, especially since he secretly wishes he would, someday, be free. Once Steven grows old and is about to die, he realizes it’s time for him to make his last wish.
His wish not only includes Elijah’s freedom. Instead, it also includes marrying his granddaughter, Christine, who will soon turn 30. Elijah has to marry her for five years, and he even states it in his will.
Unfortunately, five years of marrying Christine means heartbreak for Elijah. At first, he only thought of her as someone whose heartless heart is made of ice. He never thought Christine, whom he loves dearly, would cheat with her college ex, Tony.
Such things not only lead Elijah to impatiently count his days until his freedom from the lamp and the marriage. Instead, it also leads him to wonder if he could use his right to break his promises.
So, he does it the moment he heals Adrian Hiller, the patriarch whose corporation Christine wishes to collaborate with. He might finally secure the Hiller Corporation’s contract for Christine. Yet, he never knows what the contract offers in exchange for his actual freedom.

How Do We Describe Christine’s Longing For Elijah In Episode 51?
In Episode 51, Christine and her mother finally realize Elijah is The Great And Powerful Genie backing them up. Previously, they weren’t alone in mocking Elijah for as long as he lived inside their house.
Instead, Christine even conspired with her college friends to bring Tony to her birthday party. She even moaned Tony’s name in the bathroom where she should have sex with her husband, Elijah.
Even though they are divorced now, such memories are stored in Elijah’s Genie database. He presents it again in front of Christine, her mother, and Tony in the Djinn-summoning ceremony.

Knowing how desperate Christine is for Elijah’s return, this Genie uses his power to help Christine. At this point, we can expect him to operate like an average Djinn. For instance, he gives Christine three chances to make wishes: No wishes for eternity and endless wishes.
Here’s where Christine’s responsibility, as Elijah has implied, is tested. Now, she has the choice to abuse the Genie the way she used to do to Elijah. Alternatively, she could mark her words by respecting this Genie’s boundary.
If the latter happens, she could do something that we believe is still her. That’s to bump into a guy who looks and acts a lot like Elijah. Meanwhile, the real Elijah has been transported to his realm while bringing Ruby.
Getting married to a Genie means Ruby also becomes familiar to the ones in Elijah’s realm. She could be the Goddess who rules over the Genie realm. As a result, she has the power of the Genie who currently supports Christine.
Still, if Christine met a human guy who looks and acts like Elijah, she could recreate her experiences.
She could pretend to be Ruby, knowing that Elijah’s heart now belongs to her. She mimics Ruby’s mannerisms and clothing styles. That way, people would always remember Elijah and Ruby, no matter how many cycles of life it takes.

It’s easy to assume Christine is the materialistic ex-wife in The Great And Powerful Genie animated movie. Not only does she dump Elijah for her drop-dead gorgeous and wealthy ex, Tony. Instead, she also conspires with her closest ones to humiliate Elijah.
Five years of marriage are not short, and each time Elijah shows his love, Christine won’t believe him. She even accuses him, whose authority rises above her grandfather, of being a gold-digging guy.
After countless horrible treatment of Elijah, we expect Christine to show the same cowardice as Tony. In the end, she dumps Tony, and she even deeply expresses her regret.
Even if a part of us still suspects Christine, we believe she is worthy of more sequels. In this animated movie’s episodes alone, we have seen Christine’s rivalry with Ruby.
