Sima Jiao was a child when his clan and family were wiped out. During this process, he was found to be the vessel for the spirit fire. This means that he holds great power.
The spirit fire in him comes with a lot of pain and burns. As a child, Sima didn’t want to be the vessel. It was pure torture to him.
No matter how much he detested being the vessel or complained about the pain he was going through, the elders who had the power to end his pain only cared for the fire in him.
