Lumberjack Soren accidentally breaks the seal imprisoning the Dark Elf King and is granted three wishes that change his life forever. Before his death, Soren uses a marriage contract to secure one final wish: the Elf King must protect his granddaughter and the kingdom for six years. But the princess, a devoted believer in the power of light, despises darkness and sees the Elf King’s silent protection as nothing more than pathetic dependence. She repeatedly rejects the very man who has been secretly safeguarding her and her kingdom. Only when the marriage contract burns to ashes and an enemy army arrives at the kingdom’s gates does she finally realize the devastating truth: the man she pushed away was the last line of defense standing between her kingdom and total destruction.

Elowen, the eldest daughter of the Winfield family, was framed by her aunt Valera for treason and imprisoned in a high tower. While in captivity, she gave birth to a daughter, Mia; using her final reserves of strength, she sent the child—along with a dragon-crested ring and a red obsidian necklace—onto the back of the dragon Valensa, entrusting the beast to take her to her biological father, Prince Orion of Aetheron. Five-year-old Mia ventured alone into a royal banquet, only to be driven away as an impostor because her father was unaware of the truth. She worked as a cleaner at the Dragon-Taming Academy to earn the coins needed to visit her mother, all while silently guarding the secret her mother had left in her care. As Valera closed in, desperate to seize the secret arts of dragon-taming, Mia’s true identity was finally confirmed by the dragons. Orion, consumed by remorse, rescued Elowen from the execution grounds just as a greater conspiracy loomed; the vengeance of the Mondragon family and an undead army fueled by dark magic would soon sweep the family of three into an ultimate battle determining the fate of the empire.

Sawyer, a-rising-star celebrity, is drugged and attacked at a gala, only to be rescued by Ezra, the ruthless don of the Sicilian mafia. Convinced Ezra is the mastermind behind his parents’fatal car crash and manipulated by his girlfriend Lillian, Sawyer enters a one-year fake-marriage contract with Ezra. His goal is to infiltrate the don’s inner circle and dig up evidence to avenge his family. As they live side-by-side, Ezra repeatedly risks his life to shield Sawyer, and his self-less protection keeps shaking Sawyer’s convictions. Piece by piece, the brutal truth unfolds: it was Sawyer’s own elder brother Aurelion who orchestrated the deadly car accident for inheritance. Lillian has long been Aurelion’s secret lover. She falsely took credit for saving Sawyer and wove an elaborate lie to deceive him. They smear reputations, stage abductions and set bomb traps, pushing the pair from one life-or-death crisis to another. Through shattered misunderstandings, heart-wrenching betrayals, tower-crane hostage situations and bomb-defusal ordeals at sea, Sawyer finally realises Ezra is the childhood companion who shared hard days with him in the orphanage. Having untangled every knot of the past, the two stand united to take down all their enemies. They hold a sun-drenched seaside wedding and make a lifelong promise to stay by each other’s side.
